Our charity knit/crochet group makes things like baby hats, blankets, socks,sweaters for Clinica Campesina the health clinic in Lafayette! We meet every second Tuesday of the month 10 - 12. Free yarn and patterns.
You bring needles and/or hooks. Please come join us!!

New Crochet Guild start up!! Mew Mew's has joined Crochet Guild of America and would like to start up an official guild. Two of us are currently working on the Master in Crochet program. You do not have to join the CGOA to attend the guild. We have a request for 4 founding members each to donate $10 that will go toward our application fee.

Family Fest Day happens at Atlas Valley Shopping Center on Saturday, June 12 10 - 3. Lots of activities for kids. Would you like to bring a chair and sit outside of Mew Mew's Yarn Shop and knit or crochet? --or bring your spinning wheel? I will be spinning outside when things aren't busy in the shop. Please come and join me that Saturday!

Class openings:
A La Carte Class
This is the most popular class now at Mew Mew's. You pick your own project.Finish things up or learn a new technique. Sock, felted clogs, purse, cables, entrelac, fair isle , lace , anything! You work at your own speed. The class runs for either 3 or 5 weeks. 5 weeks is generally for a sweater. Smaller projects for the 3 week class.

Toe Up Socks
We'll work several different toe starts and heel shapings on a toddler sized sock. Then we'll discuss how to adjust a top down pattern to toe-up. For those who have already knit any other type of sock. Fridays,< July 9,16,23 6 - 8 p.m. $48

Summer Breeze Hat Join local Wooly Bear designer herself, Cheryl Andrews as she teaches her "Summer Breeze" hat. This is the popular yellow hat displayed on the counter. Make this cool and comfortable brimmed mesh cap!
Skills needed:
Students should be comfortable knitting on a circular needle, and on double points, and knitting with 2 strands of yarn held together. We will be using YOs, K2tog and SSK decreases, and wrap-and-turn short rows, which I can teach at the class if you're not familiar with them.
Materials: 2 size 6 circular needles; one 16", one any length. Set of 5 size 6 double point needles 2 skeins of Elsebeth Lavold's Hempathy

Cheryl is the prolific designer of most of the hats displayed in the shop, as well as the "ogre feet slippers" that sue always wears.

Other odds and ends: WE now have locally made goat milk soap in unscented, lavender, and eucalyptus. This is a natural moth repellent. Store it with your wool, then use as soap!
Kraemer Tatamy Worsted Tweed Cotton blend tweed yarn is back! In some nice summer colors.
